Hi! I’m Caoimhe and I’m studying Biological and Biomedical Science at Trinity College Dublin. I found the Leaving Cert stressful up until November of 6thyear when I realised it’s like a game. There’s things you have to know and then there’s things that will get you that H1. I started treating it as such, using a study plan I created, ensuring I was using my time wisely and equating study time to how much it’s worth in the grand scheme of things. For example, in my Chemistry study plan I allocated quite a chunk of time to Organic chemistry, considering it comes up in the experiment questions as well as the short and long questions.

I found Chemistry quite challenging through 5thYear but, in using this strategy, I ended up achieving a H1 in my Leaving Certificate. This applies to every subject, there are points to be earned in different parts of the course and once established, it makes life easier for the student.I hope to aid Leaving Cert students in realising their focus points in Maths, Chemistry and Biology to not only maximise their potential, but to make their life a whole lot easier. I will share what I learned throughout my Leaving Certificate experience, including how I approached each subject, what methods of study worked, and how I allocated time in relation to CAO points. I am also happy to answer any questions relating to the CAO/College and look forward to meeting you!
