Hi, my name is Seán. I am studying Global Business in DCU. My aim is to reveal to students that the Leaving Cert is not this ‘horrible nightmare experience’. I intend to lay out the steps and methods which will allow you to break down the leaving cert course into smaller and more manageable tasks. Like everybody else, I wasted several hours passively studying for the Leaving Cert. I felt guilty sometimes for not studying, so I would open up a book and just start reading it or taking notes in an attempt to tell myself that I was doing something. But after a while, I realised that the leaving cert is similarto a game, and I was not playing it correctly.

Although some of your teachers may tell you that you need to know every chapter to be safe or to succeed in an exam, realistically, this option is not feasible for everyone. I learned that I was better off focusing my time on the more important aspects, rather than spending my time briefly and passively skimming over the whole course. My goal is to teach you some of the study tips that I found helpful, and help you find out what study types work for you, so that you don’t make the same mistakes that I made! But remember, we learn from our mistakes and there is no perfect method of study that is proven to work in every case. We will trial different methods, some of which may work, and some of which may not. But in the end, we will find out what works best for you.
